Tony D'Angelo Details Pressures of Being NXT Champion
“If the show is not doing numbers, who is the first person they look at? It’s me.— Tony D'Angelo

Tony D'Angelo had spent four years in NXT before capturing the NXT Championship earlier this year. In an interview with Battle on Battleground, he discussed the lessons learned from holding the title and representing the brand. He explained that a great deal comes with the position as the face of NXT, noting the brand rests on the champion's shoulders.

D'Angelo said the role puts him at the center of commercials, media appearances, and other responsibilities, which adds significant stress. He stated that if the show fails to deliver strong ratings, he is the first person held accountable, though he accepts the pressure.

D'Angelo expressed appreciation to Shawn and others for having confidence in his ability to carry the brand, which is why he won the title. He is scheduled to face Waller in a singles match for the championship at NXT Halloween Havoc.
