Heyman: Vikings Hid Lesnar's Elite Combine Numbers
“They were reluctant to release to the media his combine numbers because he came out of WWE, and the Minnesota Vikings were concerned that the media would think this is a WWE stunt with these numbers because whether it was the 40-yard dash or the 100-yard dash or the quarter mile or with the standing jump or whatever it was, his combine numbers were of Olympic qualifying time.— Paul Heyman

Brock Lesnar left a multimillion-dollar WWE contract in 2004 to pursue a roster spot with the Minnesota Vikings. He had not played organized football since his senior year of high school in 1995.

The Vikings were reluctant to release Lesnar's combine numbers to the media. They feared the numbers would be viewed as a WWE publicity stunt given his background.

Lesnar's reported combine results included a 4.7-second 40-yard dash, a 35-inch vertical jump, and 30 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press. These marks were described as Olympic qualifying level across various events including the 40-yard dash, 100-yard dash, quarter mile, and standing jump.

At six feet two inches tall and 285 pounds, Lesnar drew interest from at least six NFL teams. His agent had contacted teams that spring to arrange tryouts.

Lesnar expressed serious commitment to the NFL pursuit in a radio interview. He emphasized his athletic ability and determination despite being viewed as an underdog.

Lesnar suffered a groin injury in a motorcycle crash in April. He recovered within two months and proceeded with the Vikings training camp.
