Xelina Details Scrapped WWE Women's US Title Plans

“I was like, 'What if we did something where it was like whatever pay-per-view or whatever it is, I win the title, but then, the very next show, we have a rematch,'— Xelina
Xelina, formerly known as Zelina Vega in WWE, became only the second woman to hold the Women's United States Championship after defeating Chelsea Green for the title in April 2025. Her reign lasted 63 days before she lost the gold to Giulia.
Xelina appeared on an episode of "Ring the Belle" where she revealed that she and Green had pitched a completely different storyline for her time as champion. The plan was designed to turn Green more heel by getting her booed while generating cheers and sympathy for Xelina.
According to Xelina, the idea involved her winning the title at a pay-per-view followed by a rematch on the next show where Green would regain the championship. Zoey Stark was supposed to join the Secret Hervice and then beat Xelina severely in the ring to make the loss look brutal and disgusting so fans would feel sympathy for her.
Xelina explained that after the attack she would then have something to chase while Green and the group stood tall as big heels. She said Green loved the concept and the pair pitched it together but the company went in another direction.
Xelina noted the backlash Road Dogg received in "WWE Unreal" for suggesting the title switch back to Green and stated that he was simply pitching the same idea the women had already developed. Xelina wanted to demonstrate to audiences how much the title meant to her so that when it was taken away the moment would feel even more disgusting.
She said the title change was supposed to go a different way and because it did not the approach almost worked against them as she did not get to defend the championship much.
