Cody Rhodes Praises Wade Barrett's 'Superman Meet Superman' Call
“Wade Barrett said something at SummerSlam that I would have paid him to say had I thought of it. But the fact that he said it on his own was so validating to me.— Cody Rhodes
Cody Rhodes defeated John Cena to win the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam 2025. Wade Barrett called the match alongside Michael Cole on commentary. Rhodes discussed the WWE commentary team while appearing on the Double Coverage Podcast. He specifically recalled one call Barrett made during the championship match.
After Rhodes kicked out of John Cena's Attitude Adjustments, Barrett exclaimed 'Superman meet Superman.' Rhodes said he would have paid Barrett to deliver that line if he had thought of it himself. The Undisputed WWE Champion described the moment as validating. He explained that it showed his fans, the commentary team, and the wrestlers believed in what he was doing in the ring.
Rhodes called the line 'the gift of a job well done.' He noted that Barrett came up with it spontaneously during the broadcast. During the same interview, Rhodes also shared that he had been nervous about asking Triple H for time off from WWE to film Street Fighter.
