Will Ospreay Retains AEW World Title In Clockwork Carnage At WrestleDream

Will Ospreay defended the AEW World Heavyweight Championship in a Clockwork Carnage match at AEW WrestleDream 2026. The unique format was designed by Pro Wrestling EVE, with whom Ospreay has collaborated. Ospreay entered the bout early in his title reign following an emotional win over Kenny Omega at AEW All In 2026.
In Clockwork Carnage, wrestlers enter every three minutes until all eight participants are in the match. Any wrestler pinned or submitted before the final entrant arrives is eliminated. Once the last wrestler enters, the remaining competitors begin a 15-minute scoring period where each pinfall or submission counts as one fall.
Ospreay and Konosuke Takeshita opened the match at a fast pace. Takeshita executed a gorilla press from the top rope followed by a flying clothesline on Ospreay. The action continued with Takeshita delivering a dive to the outside onto Ospreay.
Mike Bailey entered wearing United Empire colors, though commentary noted that alliances do not apply in Clockwork Carnage. Takeshita eliminated Bailey and focused his attack on Ospreay. Ospreay and Bailey later showed a moment of solidarity with a United Empire high-five before Takeshita interrupted it.
Ricochet attempted to form a temporary alliance with Takeshita against the United Empire members. The partnership broke down when Ricochet tried to roll up Takeshita. Ricochet then hit a dive onto Ospreay on the outside before Takeshita dropped him with a headbutt.
Ospreay and Bailey delivered a double superplex to Takeshita, but Ospreay's attempt to steal the pin failed. Darby Allin entered using a skateboard, performing an ollie on Ricochet's back and setting up a table outside the ring. Kazuchika Okada's music played as the match continued.
