Jon Moxley competed at WrestleDream while dealing with the recent death of his friend and teammate Benjamin Satterley. The loss had taken a significant emotional toll on Moxley in addition to his world title defeat the previous night.

Moxley faced Mark Davis of The Don Callis Family in a match for the AEW Continental Championship. Davis focused on delivering heavy offense throughout the contest.

Moxley ultimately forced Davis to pass out in a sleeper hold to retain the title. Following the victory he released an emotional outburst before collapsing in the ring.

Moxley's teammates assisted him as he left the area. The broadcast noted that leaders sometimes need support from those around them.
