Moxley retains Continental Crown in emotional WrestleDream clash
Jon Moxley defended the Continental Championship against Mark Davis of The Don Callis Family at AEW WrestleDream. The two wrestlers had faced each other multiple times in the weeks leading up to the event.
On the October 14 episode of AEW Dynamite, The Don Callis Family members Jake Doyle, Mark Davis, and Wardlow defeated the Death Riders team of Daniel Garcia, Gabe Kidd, and Moxley.
During the WrestleDream match, Davis executed a piledriver on the apron that temporarily took Moxley out of the action. Moxley beat a nine-count to return to the ring, only to be kicked in the head by Davis and sent back to the outside.
In the closing moments, Moxley applied The Brutalizer submission hold on Davis as a tribute to Pac. He then transitioned into a rear naked choke, which forced Davis to submit and allowed Moxley to retain the Continental Championship.
