Will Ospreay Learned Wrestling From WCW Cruiserweights

“My mom put a trampoline in my back garden and I used to watch the WCW cruiserweights.— Will Ospreay
AEW World Champion Will Ospreay revealed that he learned wrestling by watching the WCW cruiserweights as a child. Ospreay told Orlando's WKMG News 6 that his mother installed a trampoline in their back garden where he would study the high-flying moves.
He explained that he paused and rewound the broadcasts to analyze the wrestlers' arm positions and body movements before attempting the maneuvers himself on the trampoline. After Ospreay grew tired of the trampoline and began getting into trouble at school and outside the home, his mother decided to install a wrestling ring in the back garden to keep him occupied and safe.
Ospreay joked about how his family must have been wonderful neighbors due to the constant crashing and banging sounds coming from his practice sessions in the ring. Following neck surgery in September 2025 that sidelined him from AEW for an extended time, Ospreay adjusted his in-ring style.
Those adjustments did not stop him from capturing the AEW World Championship at Wembley Stadium during AEW All In London 2026. Ospreay successfully defended the title in his Clockwork Carnage match at AEW WrestleDream 2026.
