Swerve Strickland Says WWE-AEW Co-Promotion Will Never Happen
“It's like the NFL, WWE has to protect their shield.— Swerve Strickland
Fans have long speculated about potential dream matches between WWE and AEW wrestlers. However, only a small number of independent matches involving lower-level talents from both promotions have taken place.
Swerve Strickland expressed doubt that cross-promotional events between the two companies will occur during his lifetime. He cited control and marketing as the primary reasons preventing such collaborations.
According to Strickland, WWE prioritizes protecting its image and ensuring its top stars maintain an advantage. He noted that talents like Obi Femi, Gunther, Roman Reigns, and Cody Rhodes are shielded to preserve their standings.
Strickland indicated he no longer seeks out specific opponents for fantasy matches. He now aims to position himself as the desired fantasy match for others.
In AEW, Strickland teams with Kofi and Austin Creed as part of The New Level. The group lost the AEW Trios Titles to Hangman Page, Bandido, and Brody King at WrestleDream.
