Ricochet Says He's a Better Performer Now

“Before, it was always physical. You’re going to see something spectacular. I’m going to do something that’s going to make you get out of your seat, which I can still do. But now I also have that emotional connection.— Ricochet
Ricochet has been a member of the AEW roster since 2024. The pro-wrestling veteran spent time in WWE from 2018 until 2024. Prior to that he competed for NJPW, Lucha Underground and various independent promotions. After leaving WWE in 2024 he signed with AEW.
In a recent interview with Zack Heydorn of Sports Illustrated, Ricochet stated that he considers himself a better performer now than earlier in his career. He explained that his earlier work focused mainly on physical feats that would make spectators stand up, something he can still deliver.
Ricochet added that he now creates an emotional connection with the audience in addition to the athletic displays. During his complete run in WWE he portrayed a babyface character. Soon after arriving in AEW he turned heel and began exploring his villainous side.
His current heel persona has produced a strong emotional link with fans who loudly boo him, a reaction he welcomes. "When I come out and people don’t start clapping, they start booing; that’s just as much cheering as when Will Ospreay or Kenny Omega comes out and people cheer for them," Ricochet said.
