Mina Shirakawa Admits Title Drought Hurt Her Confidence
“I was so surprised because she picked me as an international star, right? Because sometimes now, recently, lately, because I don’t have the title for a long time, I feel, ‘Oh, what’s wrong with me now?’— Mina Shirakawa
Mina Shirakawa admitted that her extended period without a championship has impacted her confidence. In an interview before her October 30 bout, the AEW wrestler said she was surprised that CMLL Japan Women’s Champion India Sioux chose her personally as an opponent.
Shirakawa explained that the lack of a title recently made her question herself at times. She stated that Sioux selecting her as an international star served as a wake-up call. According to Shirakawa, the opportunity helped shift her mindset from feeling down to recognizing it was time to shine again on a global scale.
Shirakawa expressed happiness about facing Sioux in Arena Mexico, viewing the match as a chance for both competitors to shine. She added that she would give her best effort in the Friday contest.
