Darby Allin Aims To Inspire Next Generation To Stay True

“It’s really interesting because I feel the most important thing to me in wrestling in general was leaving the same person I came in, and there’s a million routes you could take to make it to the top of this wrestling game, and a lot of that involves compromising your beliefs and how you perceive yourself, and it’s really intimidating to stay true to yourself.— Darby Allin
Darby Allin wants to inspire the next generation of professional wrestlers to stay true to themselves and avoid changing who they are to achieve success. Allin has been with All Elite Wrestling since the promotion launched in 2019. He has not altered any aspect of his personality or in-ring approach during that time.
Allin continues to perform his high-risk style despite critics urging him to tone it down. In a new interview with 1010XL’s Trent Osborne, Allin discussed his desire to motivate upcoming wrestlers. He explained that the most important thing to him in wrestling is leaving the business as the same person he entered it.
Allin said there are many paths to the top that involve compromising beliefs and self-perception, making it intimidating to remain authentic. He recalled telling himself on the first day of wrestling school in 2014 that he would stay true to who he is and not change for anyone.
Allin stated he would rather be homeless under a bridge like he was years ago than alter himself and no longer recognize the person in the mirror. He described climbing to the top of AEW without changing anything as the greatest feeling in the world.
Allin noted his main goal is to show the next generation that they do not have to change who they are. He added that bringing what is in one’s soul to the world shows, and reaching the top without believing in what one is doing would be the craziest feeling.
