Tonga Loa Discusses WWE Release And Family

Tonga Loa was released by WWE after spending a year back with the company. During that run he captured the WWE Tag Team Titles alongside his brother Tama Tonga. While appearing at a virtual signing for K & S WrestleFest, Tonga Loa said he enjoyed his latest stint with WWE.

He stated that he conducted himself well and did not take matters personally. Tonga Loa noted he had two separate runs with WWE and enjoyed both of them. He explained that this most recent period was better because he remained sober throughout.

Tonga Loa said it was especially rewarding to work with both Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga, adding that although they had wrestled together a little in Japan they had limited opportunities until Talla reached the main roster. He described traveling and performing with his brothers as fun and nice.

When directly asked why he was released, Tonga Loa replied "Uh… Nah" and declined to give specifics. He expressed happiness that his father Haku is now with his brothers on the road and admitted he is a little envious they get to work together.

Tonga Loa said he had a feeling about the release because it came the week after a large group of more than 20 talents were let go. He revealed that he and Jeff Cobb were released the following week and that during filming he could sense it was coming.
