The Miz Explains Origin Of His Ring Name
“They’re the ones that started it. Yeah, I mean, when I was growing up as a kid, you know, my last name is Mizanin, and there’s tons of Mikes, right? So it was always like, hey, Miz, hey, Miz, hey, Miz, hey, Miz.— The Miz
The Miz revealed that his ring name originated from a nickname given to him by friends in Ohio during his childhood. His last name Mizanin led to him being called Miz repeatedly due to the commonality of the first name Mike among peers.
The WWE star discussed the matter in a recent interview with Q104.3. He explained that the moniker stuck from his early years and remains in use today among his longtime acquaintances. The Miz noted that his high school friends continue to address him as Miz. The group still gathers regularly, including for fantasy football leagues where he is currently performing well and feels confident about his standing.
