Shayna Baszler reveals Ronda Rousey fought for women's match time
“Ronda had a pay-per-view match and got six minutes cut off of her match, because a match before had gone over their time... she bought her own ticket and flew herself to headquarters to have a meeting with creative at that time, to be like, ‘Guys, this keeps happening. The women keep losing time. I need to know right now, is this gonna change? Because if it’s not, I don’t need to be here.— Shayna Baszler
TNA signee Shayna Baszler discussed Ronda Rousey's contributions to women's wrestling in WWE during an interview. Baszler stated that Rousey does not receive enough credit for her efforts to advance the division.
Baszler shared an incident in which Rousey had six minutes removed from her pay-per-view match after the previous bout ran long. Rousey responded by purchasing her own plane ticket and traveling to headquarters to meet with creative.
During the meeting, Rousey questioned whether the women's matches would continue to lose time. She emphasized that she was participating to help progress women's wrestling rather than for money or fame.
Rousey indicated that if the situation would not change, she would leave the company. Baszler noted that Rousey has not publicly discussed the event or similar actions taken on behalf of the women's locker room.
Baszler added that many in the locker room were likely unaware of these behind-the-scenes efforts by Rousey.
