Sami Zayn Credits Sexxxy Eddy For Career Breakthrough

“I’ve told this story before, but the biggest break I ever had— Sami Zayn
Sami Zayn revealed that the biggest break in his wrestling career before joining WWE and linking up with Roman Reigns and the Bloodline came from an incident involving fellow Canadian wrestler Sexxxy Eddy. Zayn explained that Eddy traveled to the United States and performed in a match at CZW Tournament of Death 3 where he sliced an artery against The Arsenal, resulting in significant blood loss.
Despite the injury, Eddy continued as an insane showman and captured the audience's imagination that night, prompting promoters to ask who these Canadian guys were. That led directly to Zayn getting booked in the United States for the first time, along with Kevin Steen who later became known as Kevin Owens.
The specific follow-up match occurred at CZW High Stakes II: Night Show in 2004 when Zayn faced eXceSs 69, Eddy, and Steen. Speaking on Chris Van Vliet's Insight podcast, Zayn said he has told this story before and that the breakthrough had nothing to do with him personally.
"It was because Sexxxy Eddy got cut open and had blood spewing out of his arm, but still decided to put on a show." Zayn added that if Eddy had not put on that show, he does not know how his career would have gone and noted the crazy domino effect that takes place.
He stated he cannot even fathom what his career would look like without the Bloodline storyline during Roman's historical run as WWE Champion because everything is such a domino effect. Zayn emphasized that he is not the only one with these stories and that sometimes it is super small things or events that have nothing to do with you that change an entire career and life.
