Paul Heyman Claims Diverticulitis Prevented Lesnar's UFC Undefeated Run
“If he didn’t have diverticulitis, he would’ve never been defeated in UFC. Never.— Paul Heyman

Paul Heyman claimed in a recent interview that Brock Lesnar would have remained undefeated in the UFC and still be the heavyweight champion at age 49 if not for diverticulitis. Lesnar won the UFC Heavyweight Championship in his fourth fight after leaving WWE and held the title for nearly two years.

He lost the belt to Cain Velasquez in October 2010 while battling a severe case of diverticulitis. Heyman stated that diverticulitis robbed Lesnar of greater athletic accomplishments and that without it, Lesnar would never have been defeated in the UFC.

Speaking about Lesnar's time with the Minnesota Vikings, Heyman explained the team was reluctant to release his combine numbers because they feared the media would view them as a WWE stunt. Lesnar's combine numbers at 6'3 and 285 pounds were of Olympic qualifying time in events including the 40-yard dash, 100-yard dash, quarter mile, and standing jump.

Six weeks before training camp, right after leaving WWE, Lesnar flipped his motorcycle at 90 or 100 miles an hour in Minnesota, tearing his groin, fracturing his pelvis, tearing everything down to his knees, and breaking his jaw.
