Paige returned to WWE NXT this week for her first match on the brand in 12 years. She appeared as the mystery challenger for NXT Women's Champion Kelani Jordan but came up short in the bout.
While the match pleased many fans, fellow English wrestler Blake Monroe criticized the appearance on social media. Monroe described it as a nostalgia tour.
Paige responded directly to the criticism. She told Monroe to prove she could generate a similar fan reaction and suggested Monroe could only hope to become a nostalgia queen one day.
The two wrestlers have a prior history from their time in AEW. They faced each other in tag team and singles matches, splitting the results with one win apiece, and Monroe won their most recent singles encounter in a tournament quarterfinal.
Paige, the inaugural NXT Women's Champion, lost to Jordan by roll-up. After the match, Paige disclosed that she had been added to the bout at the last minute after another performer was originally scheduled.
