Maya World Recalls Last-Minute AEW Collision Opportunity
“It kind of just happened. If you know, you know. One day we were just working in Houston It was about a year ago. I might get in trouble for saying this, I don’t know, but two girls — we were not signed to the company yet — two women who were considered to be signed, they walked out and so we got an opportunity to step up.— Maya WorldShowAEW CollisionLatest results, card & news →
A year ago on AEW Collision, plans changed at the last minute when Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize walked out instead of facing Tay Melo and Anna Jay in their scheduled tag match. Maya World and Hyan were brought in as replacements for the bout.
Maya World recalled the events while speaking on Agent 00’s stream ahead of AEW Dynamite. She explained that the opportunity arose suddenly one day while they were working in Houston. At the time Maya and Hyan were not signed to the company and were not even tag partners.
Two women who were considered to be signed to AEW left the show, opening the door for them to step up. Maya noted that Tony Khan approved of their performance and told them to come back after they were allowed to compete.
Hyan added that she was not even supposed to be at the event that day and they were not originally booked for a match.
