Kyle Fletcher Names The Miz As Promo Inspiration

“I think how much he interacts with the crowd, and not just in a sense of turning to the crowd and yelling at them or whatever.— Kyle Fletcher
AEW star Kyle Fletcher has built a reputation for his in-ring performances but also emphasizes the need to excel on the microphone. He cited WWE veteran The Miz as a key inspiration for his promo approach during an interview on the Battleground Podcast.
Fletcher highlighted how The Miz interacts with the crowd beyond simply yelling at them. He noted that many wrestlers today rely on memorized scripts or written material for their promos. In contrast, Fletcher pointed out that The Miz and John Cena often enter segments without predetermined lines, allowing the crowd's reactions to shape what they say.
"I think that's something that I definitely looked at, I was inspired by, and something that I've tried to do in my own stuff," Fletcher said. He acknowledged that overthinking promos is common, leading many to prepare extensively in advance.
Observing The Miz's effective spontaneity encouraged Fletcher to trust his own speaking skills instead of over-relying on memorization. The Miz has delivered numerous memorable promos throughout his more than 20 years in WWE, such as his notable 2016 outburst on Talking Smack.
Since turning heel, shaving his head, and aligning with The Don Callis Family in 2024, Fletcher has produced similar styled speeches while adapting them to his personal approach.
