Kyle Fletcher Addresses Randy Orton Comparisons
“When I first started hearing it, it was that reaction of, ‘Aw man, Randy Orton is great. I love Randy Orton.’ To be mentioned in the same sentence as him was awesome. At the same time, any wrestler should want to carve their own path.— Kyle Fletcher
Kyle Fletcher has received comparisons to Randy Orton in recent years based on their physical build. Fletcher shaved his head and added muscle mass as he continued to develop his physique.
During an appearance on the What Happened When podcast with Conrad Thompson and Tony Schiavone, Fletcher discussed the comparisons. He initially reacted positively to being mentioned alongside Orton, whom he admires.
Fletcher noted that wrestlers should aim to create their own identities and paths in the business. He believes he has begun to establish his distinct career trajectory.
He pointed out the difficulty in direct comparisons given Orton's three decades in wrestling and 14 world championship reigns. Fletcher stated he has not reached that level of success yet.
Fletcher views the comparisons as motivation rather than a negative. He expressed hope that by the end of his career, others will draw parallels in the opposite direction.
Fletcher is scheduled to challenge Will Ospreay for the AEW World Title at the upcoming Full Gear event.
