Ilja Dragunov Becomes WWE Free Agent

Ilja Dragunov has become a WWE free agent after allowing his contract with the company to expire. His profile was moved to the alumni section on the WWE website, confirming the reports.
Dragunov had been sidelined for over a year following an ACL tear suffered in a live event match against Gunther. He returned in October by defeating Sami Zayn to capture the Men's United States Championship.
His television usage began to decrease after the start of 2026. Discussions between both sides about a potential return to SmackDown took place as recently as June but ultimately did not succeed.
No details have emerged regarding Dragunov's future plans. His in-ring performances are expected to attract significant interest from other promotions.
