Cody Rhodes Explains His All-Suits Style

“A lot stolen from the Nature Boy, Ric Flair, as far as suited and booted and the whole concept of… he’s kind of wrestling’s, and this is going to sound strange, but the first pro athlete of wrestling in a sense of that big 80s flashing the cash, the jets, the suits, the high lifestyle that came with it.— Cody Rhodes
Cody Rhodes has decided to commit fully to wearing suits at all times when he is not wrestling. The American Nightmare revealed that he took the suited and booted concept from Ric Flair. Speaking on the Double Coverage Podcast, Rhodes said a lot of what he does is stolen from Ric Flair rather than his father Dusty Rhodes.
He described Flair as wrestling's first pro athlete in the sense of the big 80s lifestyle that included flashing cash, jets, suits and high living. Rhodes noted that while his father Dusty ran as the common man and man of the people during the majority of the 1980s, much of his own approach comes from Flair.
He added that what pro wrestler does not want to steal from the greatest of all time and called the Nature Boy the best. Rhodes explained that after initially wearing suits it became a really great feeling that made him feel professional and gave a sense of pride.
He was shamed by Chelsea Green, Matt Cardona and his wife Brandi Rhodes after buying some polos and wearing jeans. Rhodes stated that he could not get the casual look right and is therefore going all suits all the time now. Cody Rhodes is currently scheduled to appear on the November 4 edition of WWE NXT.
