Tony Schiavone Recalls Having Doubts About Clockwork Carnage

“I didn’t know what to expect [from the match]. Nobody did, nobody. We’re in the back, we’ve had meetings, we’ve been told what’s going to go on…but we still didn’t know what to expect, and I’m thinking ‘this could really not turn out too good.’ But I thought it was good. I thought it was very good, and I thought there was a lot of drama.— Tony Schiavone
AEW commentator Tony Schiavone discussed the Clockwork Carnage match that took place at AEW WrestleDream. He explained that he had concerns beforehand about whether the match concept would work effectively on pay-per-view.
Schiavone said that despite meetings and being told what would happen, no one knew what to expect from the match. He worried that it might not turn out well.
He noted that the match worked well when performed live. Schiavone felt it delivered a lot of drama especially toward the end.
While he enjoys matches featuring strong in-ring work, selling, and spots, Schiavone particularly appreciated the dramatic elements in the Clockwork Carnage bout. He described the overall match as very good.
