TNA Champion Leon Slater Discusses Title Victory
“It was a great feeling, especially from the growth that I've had over the past twelve to eighteen months. Not only as a performer, an in-ring talent, or a professional wrestler, but as a human being I've grown up so much in the past year and a half.— Leon Slater

TNA World Champion Leon Slater recently spoke about capturing the title and the personal growth he experienced over the past twelve to eighteen months. Slater noted that the victory represented both the culmination of his development as a performer and the beginning of a new chapter.

He explained that he had always excelled in the ring but had dedicated recent time to improving his look, promos, character, and overall completeness as a wrestler. At 22 years old, Slater expressed gratitude for the opportunity to become world champion and for the trust placed in him by the company.

He described the current era as one featuring rising younger talent receiving increased TV time, yet few have been handed the main reins until now. Slater stated he feels proud to serve as a figurehead and test case for whether his generation can succeed after advocating for such chances.

He added that his only task moving forward is to validate those who supported him and disprove his doubters. Slater also reflected on becoming one of the few British wrestlers to hold the TNA title, calling it an unbelievable feeling.

He emphasized that the achievement carries extra significance coming from Bradford in northern England, where he lacked similar local inspirations growing up.
