Matt Hardy Recalls Near-Total Creative Control Over Broken Character in TNA

“That’s not fully correct. I did. I worked with Jeremy Borash, who was like our guy. And while I was at home, I definitely had very much input.— Matt Hardy
Matt Hardy discussed the creative control he had over his 'Broken' character during his time in TNA. In May of 2016, Hardy debuted the 'Broken' Matt Hardy character in TNA, which emerged from a career resurgence for the wrestler who had largely been known as a tag team competitor.
The character later moved with him to both WWE and AEW. He worked with Jeremy Borash and had very much input while at home. Officials would indicate directions they hoped to take the character. Hardy explained that if he had stayed in TNA instead of returning to WWE, he would have probably had almost complete creative control and had been very close to it.
He noted that Jeff Jarrett had come in during a darker point in his life, leading to a falling out, and discussions about changing the money already agreed upon.
