Steve Maclin Discusses Deonna Purrazzo's Role at MLP Northern Rising

“So it’s funny, the first time we’ve ever been on screen together is Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling and it was the scene where I’m getting bailed out of jail by Adam Copeland when I thought it was my wife picking me up and up in Windsor.— Steve Maclin
Steve Maclin discussed Deonna Purrazzo's involvement in his match against Adam Copeland at Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling's Northern Rising event. The bout featured interference from both Rhino and Purrazzo. Maclin revealed to Sean Ross Sapp that the first time he and Purrazzo appeared on screen together occurred at Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling in a scene set in Windsor where Copeland bailed him out of jail.
He explained that uncertainty existed behind the scenes about who would participate in the match and the creative team aimed to avoid disappointing the crowd by building false expectations. Maclin stated the moment was executed as intended and suggested the door remains open for Beth to become involved in a potential storyline featuring Adam Copeland against himself and his wife.
He described the experience of having his wife in the match as profoundly meaningful, noting it surpassed any championship victory or previous career highlight including last year's Bound for Glory and a moment with his mother. Maclin shared that his mother, who rarely watches his matches but follows his wife's work more closely, viewed the bout while dog-sitting with his father and declared it her favorite match ever.
He reflected on the full-circle nature of facing Copeland, recalling how he used an Edge action figure as a stand-in for himself during childhood play. During his entrance at the event, Maclin stood in the corner absorbing fan hostility including being flipped off and cursed at while trying to remain present in the moment alongside Copeland.
