Santino Marella Recalls Pitching Cobra vs Mr Socko Rumble Spot

Santino Marella revealed that he pitched the 2012 Royal Rumble spot featuring his Cobra battling Mick Foley's Mr. Socko. Marella and Foley shared the ring during the match and brought out their signature items, with the two socks engaging until Cody Rhodes interrupted the segment.

While appearing on the We R Wrestling podcast, Marella was asked about the origin of the idea and confirmed that he suggested the battle. Marella said he came up with the concept and noted the excitement on Foley's face while he was explaining it.

Marella added that Foley had a huge smile and appeared like a fan visualizing the moment. The two did not time the segment but put on their socks and cobras in exactly the same amount of time. Marella explained that more was planned for the spot, including moving all the way to one side of the ring and then back to the other.

Cody Rhodes jumped them too early, cutting the sequence short, which prompted Marella to tell him they had more planned. Marella stated that at least they completed the most important part, which was the showdown.
