Cody Rhodes Calls Out False WWE Title Rumor

Cody Rhodes addressed a specific false rumor about his WWE Championship reign during an appearance on the Double Coverage Podcast. Rhodes had just begun his second reign as WWE Champion after defeating John Cena at SummerSlam 2025. He then entered a program with Drew McIntyre around the same time he started filming for Street Fighter.

Rhodes won the match outright in front of fans in Indianapolis. The reported pitch involved Randy Orton interfering to cost Cody the title and begin their rivalry. That rivalry is scheduled to conclude at Saturday's Crown Jewel Premium Live Event.

He stated there is no wrong way to be a fan but noted that certain conversations only happen on X. Rhodes reminded fans to take rumors with a grain of salt since some stories are wildly made up.
