Samoa Joe Says AEW Locker Room Bands Together After Losses

“There's no real established protocol beyond how anybody grieves amongst friends and loved ones.— Samoa Joe
AEW star Samoa Joe discussed the atmosphere in the locker room after the recent deaths of Andy Williams and Pac. The two losses occurred only weeks apart last month. Joe described how the group has come together to support one another during the difficult time.
Joe explained that there is no formal protocol for handling grief beyond supporting friends and loved ones. He noted that the locker room makes itself available for conversations or late-night calls when needed. The impact of the losses has been felt throughout the entire wrestling world.
According to Joe, continuing with shows has helped the talent process the grief. AEW held separate tribute events for both Williams and Pac. These included 10-bell salutes along with special matches.
Williams was honored with a 12-man battle royal on AEW Collision. Pac received a tribute on AEW Dynamite that featured a 10-man tag team main event between his former stablemates and another group. Joe praised AEW President Tony Khan for showing sensitivity toward the performers.
Joe emphasized that the locker room bands together in times of loss. He said the deaths have led to a greater appreciation that time on earth is precious. Joe added that the experience serves as a reminder to express care and love to those who matter.
