Sami Zayn Recalls Royal Rumble 2023 Crowd Reaction
“I haven't heard a reaction quite like that because the very funny thing about that reaction is, like, if you listen to it back, because I actually saw it pretty recently, it's the pitch that [it] gets [to]. It's like a different noise that I've never really heard.— Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn recalled the 2023 Royal Rumble segment where he turned on Roman Reigns and The Bloodline. He struck Reigns with a chair after Reigns' match against Kevin Owens. The moment took place at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Zayn described the crowd's reaction as unlike anything he had heard before. He noted that the pitch of the ovation stood out when listening back to it. The sound began with a 'Y' rather than an 'H,' resembling a collective 'yeah' from the audience.

He compared the reaction to other memorable pops in wrestling history. Zayn mentioned the impact of Stone Cold Steve Austin's music hitting and the match involving Mick Foley as examples of goosebump-inducing moments.

Despite focusing on executing the segment, Zayn recognized the moment's special nature from the live crowd response. He felt the reaction appeared even louder when rewatching the footage than it did inside the arena.

Zayn called the segment one of the best he has been involved in. He highlighted its collaborative nature, with multiple people contributing ideas that combined into a cohesive whole.

He stated that the segment perfectly captured the essence of The Bloodline storyline.
