Persephone Retains TBS Title In WrestleDream Four-Way

Nick Wayne defeated Chris Jericho at AEW WrestleDream on Saturday. The victory allowed Wayne to win their three-match series by a score of 2-1. Wayne secured the pinfall with a small package following a sequence where both competitors tried to gain the advantage with low blows.

Wayne made his entrance using new music and graphics. Jericho quickly took the action outside the ring and sent Wayne into the barricade. Jericho later delivered a Death Valley Driver onto the steel steps.

Wayne countered with a moonsault to the floor and followed up with a 450 splash that resulted in a near fall. Jericho applied the Walls of Jericho twice during the bout. Wayne reached the ropes to break the first submission and escaped the second.

In the closing minutes Wayne shoved the referee aside and attempted a low blow. Jericho revealed he was wearing an athletic cup under his gear to block the move. Jericho then struck Wayne with the cup until the referee took it away.

While the referee disposed of the cup Jericho delivered a low blow of his own. Wayne ultimately scored the pin to conclude the match. After the bout Wayne took the microphone to declare that he had beaten Jericho before celebrating with pyro on the entrance ramp.

The rivalry between the two began during the summer after tensions arose following the All In Casino Gauntlet. Jericho won the first match on the September 16 episode of Dynamite with a roll-up. Wayne tied the series by defeating Jericho on the October 10 episode of Collision: Grand Slam France which set up the decisive match at WrestleDream.
