Ospreay retains in Clockwork Carnage main event

Will Ospreay retained his AEW World title in the Clockwork Carnage match that closed the WrestleDream pay-per-view on October 17. The bout featured a staggered entry format devised by Ospreay himself and began with the champion entering first against Konosuke Takeshita.

Subsequent entrants included Mike Bailey, Ricochet, Darby Allin, and Kazuchika Okada. Any pinfall or submission during the initial phase resulted in elimination, with Takeshita eliminating Bailey before Adam Copeland made his entrance.

Copeland locked up with Takeshita, allowing Okada to eliminate the latter. Samoa Joe entered last, reducing the field to six competitors and beginning the point-scoring portion of the match.

Joe secured the first pinfall and added a second point, positioning himself to challenge for the world title. Ospreay intervened at the final moment to prevent Joe from winning and retained the championship.

Following the match, Copeland shook Ospreay's hand before pulling him in to indicate he remains a future challenger for the title.
