Clark Connors Reveals Original AEW Name Pitch
“When we came over here, we just became the Dogs, but we really pitched the name Raw Dogs, but I think there was an issue with that whole Monday night thing, but it sounds cool because we’re raw fucking dogs. The Dogs is also a sick name.— Clark Connors

Clark Connors, Gabe Kidd, and David Finlay arrived in AEW as The Dogs after competing as The War Dogs in NJPW. The group originated as an offshoot of Bullet Club, which had been slowly disbanding before Finlay assumed leadership from Jay White.

During an appearance on What Happened When with Tony Schiavone, Connors disclosed the original name the group proposed upon joining AEW. The trio had suggested Raw Dogs, though concerns related to the Monday night programming prevented its use.

Connors expressed that Raw Dogs sounded appropriate for the group because they are raw dogs. He added that The Dogs remains a strong name for the team.

The Dogs are currently aligned with the Death Riders in AEW programming.
