Cody Rhodes sustained an orbital fracture during his match against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42. The injury caused his eye to swell shut.

Following the event, Rhodes stepped away from in-ring competition for a couple of weeks. He returned to the ring two weeks later on SmackDown.

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Rhodes discussed the injury. He stated that he believes he has been dealing with an orbital fracture and takes responsibility for continuing despite it.

Rhodes expressed frustration with himself for proceeding with the injury. He noted that the fracture has since slowed down his work significantly.

Rhodes previously competed with a torn pectoral muscle at Hell in a Cell in 2022. He has described that experience as toxic as well.

The rivalry between Rhodes and Orton continues. Rhodes has now taken on the role of delivering punts in their ongoing feud.
