Matt Hardy Recalls WWE Removing Hardys From TV
“There was a storyline for our characters and they wanted us to split up and there was a couple things that we were asked to do and Jeff was uncomfortable and didn’t want to do it so we were off TV for a while as a punishment, I guess.— Matt Hardy

In 1997, WWE presented Badd Blood: In Your House, which featured a mostly forgettable undercard but became iconic due to its main event. Kane made his monstrous debut by interfering during the bout.

Matt Hardy was 23 years old at the time and had not yet established his WWE career. He watched the event and recalled the moment the cell was lowered before the match. Hardy described the experience as impressive on his "The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy" podcast.

"I'll never forget sitting back and watching that match, and that was the first time I was like, 'Whoa,'" Hardy said. He noted that Shawn Michaels performed on another level in the match despite already being known as great. Hardy called Michaels' performance a standout that was incredible to watch.

Hardy also praised The Undertaker's work in the match. He observed that the Deadman did not simply overpower Michaels as he had done with many previous opponents. The bout stood out to Hardy for this balanced approach.

Before the match, Hardy saw Kane backstage without his mask. He and his brother Jeff had prior history with Glenn Jacobs from working together in Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Hardy remembered Jacobs performing as Unabomber during that time.

Hardy found it strange to witness Jacobs receiving the new character as The Undertaker's brother. He recalled being around Jacobs earlier when he portrayed Isaac Yankem. This backstage glimpse added to the memorable night for Hardy.
