Matt Hardy Breaks Down Tiffany Stratton Ladder Mishap

Matt Hardy explained the mechanics behind Tiffany Stratton's Swanton bomb attempt from a ladder during the women's ladder match at WWE Money in the Bank 2026.

Stratton landed hard outside the ring after trying to hit the move on several opponents below her. Hardy noted that from the top of a tall ladder measuring eight, 10 or 12 feet, a wrestler cannot push off without causing the ladder to topple even when others are holding it.

He stated that performers must simply drop off in that position. Hardy added that he has seen his brother Jeff perform the maneuver many times and has done it himself on occasion, though he prefers launching from a lower rung to generate more push.

According to Hardy, attempting a hard push from the top typically causes the ladder to tip backward. He suggested that the wrestlers Stratton was targeting should have positioned themselves slightly closer to her.

Those wrestlers ended up knocking her legs, which reduced her momentum and lessened the impact of the landing. Stratton was absent from the following episode of WWE SmackDown and later indicated at a post-event press conference that her neck continued to hurt after the spot.
