Lana and Rusev announce they are expecting a son

CJ Perry, known as Lana, and her husband Miro Barnyashev, who performs as Rusev, announced they are expecting a son. The couple shared the news with People magazine on October 27 after confirming the pregnancy with two positive tests. They began in vitro fertilization last year and had the embryo transferred on August 10 of this year.

Lana described the IVF process as an emotional experience filled with hope that diminished as fewer embryos continued developing through day three and day five. She added that waiting for genetic testing results created additional hurdles at every stage. Their first embryo with normal genetic testing results was a boy, which they transferred, and Lana chose to learn the sex immediately to gain more information amid the uncertainty.

The couple will name their son Bear, with the middle name chosen to honor Barnyashev's father, who will become the child's grandfather. Barnyashev revealed he had envisioned the name Bear for their son ten years ago.
