Kelani Jordan Defends Controversial NXT Promo

“Yes, that was one of the biggest turning points in my career and also the evolution of Kelani Jordan. So yes, I still stand by that because I think people sometimes forget about the talent that’s in the ring.— Kelani Jordan
WWE NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan has reaffirmed her support for a controversial promo she delivered last year. The segment came after Jordan captured the TNA Knockouts Championship and aired live on NXT. In the promo Jordan criticized fans for focusing on women with “fat a**es and catchphrases” instead of in-ring ability.
Speaking on The Wrestling Classic, Jordan was asked whether she still stands by those remarks and answered without hesitation that she does. She described the promo as one of the biggest turning points in her career and part of the evolution of her character.
Jordan stated that people sometimes forget about the talent in the ring and are drawn to other things. She reminded listeners that the most elite athlete is standing right in front of them. Jordan listed her accomplishments including being a history maker, North American champion, TNA Knockouts champion and current NXT Women’s Champion.
She explained that fans often see her as cute when she is rainbows and butterflies but do not take her seriously. Jordan said she grew tired of being an underdog, knows what she brings to the table and decided a change was needed.
That shift led her to drop the happy-go-lucky persona. Jordan is scheduled to defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Wren Sinclair at NXT Halloween Havoc 2026.
