Kaitlyn Recalls Unhappy 2014 WWE Exit

“I just wanted to be done— Kaitlyn
Former WWE star Kaitlyn described the events surrounding her request for release from the company in 2014. The moment occurred in Baltimore, the same city where she had made her debut. She experienced a difficult travel day due to a snowstorm and last-minute arrangements after learning she would not be booked for television.
Kaitlyn reached out to a writer named Tom to secure travel. Upon arriving, she realized she was not on the show. This created a full-circle feeling that reinforced her decision to leave because she had grown unhappy.
She approached Talent Relations and spoke with Mark Carano about wanting her release. He suggested she sleep on the decision. The feedback involved discussion with Hunter before she confirmed her choice the next day despite feeling terrible.
Kaitlyn chose not to inform anyone, including close friends AJ and Big E, because she wanted to avoid making it a big deal. She needed space and to remove herself from the environment even though she cared about many people there. Word spread quickly the following day among writers and others.
On the day of her final WWE match against AJ on Main Event, Kaitlyn felt sick to her stomach. She does not recall details of the match itself. AJ was upset and attempted to be supportive while paired with Tamina at the time.
