Johnny Gargano's Inspiring WWE Journey

Johnny Gargano has achieved success in WWE as NXT Champion, NXT North American Champion, NXT Tag Team Champion and WWE Tag Team Champion. His career demonstrates persistence through repeated rejections and physical setbacks.

Gargano was turned away after a 2015 WWE tryout and was told he was too small to succeed. The Cleveland native continued pursuing his goal of becoming a top performer like Shawn Michaels.

In NXT he teamed with Tommaso Ciampa to form the duo known as #DIY. The pair won the NXT Tag Team titles and produced several memorable matches that strengthened the brand's tag division.

Following the end of that partnership Gargano created the stable called The Way, which included his wife Candice LeRae along with Austin Theory and Indi Hartwell. He later became the first NXT Triple Crown Champion and appeared in more TakeOver events than any other wrestler.

Gargano returned to WWE programming on August 22 2022 and immediately made an impact. After recovering from an injury in summer 2023 he reunited with Ciampa, and the revived #DIY went on to win the WWE Tag Team Championship.
