Johnny Gargano Reveals Reason For Months Of Planking On SmackDown

“Everyone's wondering why. Why were you laying around, feeling sorry for yourself for six months Johnny? What was going on? Well, it's complicated, but the easy answer is right there. I feel like everyone expected me to be that guy. And I tried to be that guy, and I couldn't. And I felt like I was letting a lot of people down. And I hated that.— Johnny Gargano
Johnny Gargano has explained the reasons behind his six-month hiatus from wrestling earlier this year. Gargano was seen planking backstage instead of competing in matches since the beginning of the year. He returned to the ring in August when he faced CM Punk in Cleveland.
During a vlog, Gargano addressed why he had been inactive for half a year. He stated that everyone expected him to be a certain guy and that he tried to live up to that but felt he was letting a lot of people down.
After losses on SmackDown, Gargano would see videos of Quill crying because his daddy was not getting the treasure. This affected Gargano deeply and led him to decide it was easier not to try than to fail repeatedly and let people down. He also thanked the fans for their continued support and Sami Zayn for showing him the way.
