Jake Hager Faces Possible More Eye Surgery

Jake Hager sustained a serious eye injury during his match at Power Slap 23 in Lubbock, Texas. He faced independent wrestler Johnny Magna in a slap fight, and a powerful hit in the second round caused his left eye to bleed.

Hager and his team argued that the contact should be ruled a foul. Officials instead stopped the bout and awarded the victory to Magna, resulting in Hager suffering a ruptured eye along with the loss.

Hager required emergency surgery on the injured eye after the event. His partner Patricia Blackburn shared that the procedure took place, though the family initially kept further details about his condition private.

A new report indicates that Hager may need additional operations on the eye in the future. The injury occurred in what was his third career Power Slap fight.

Hager has competed in professional wrestling, mixed martial arts, and Power Slap throughout his career. He had retired from wrestling in 2025 before returning for two matches with World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico in June 2026.
