ICW: NHB Loses Default Judgment in Rachel Price Lawsuit
Rachel Price won a default judgment against independent wrestling promotion ICW: No Holds Barred in her lawsuit. A proof hearing to determine the amount and extent of damages took place on September 24 in Newark, New Jersey. Price had received the default judgment on July 21.
During the hearing the court ordered Price to submit a supplemental certification that includes any additional medical bills and the amount of the outstanding lien. The submission is due within 30 days. The court will then issue a ruling on the amount owed to Price.
Price claimed she was working at the venue during an ICW: No Holds Barred event on June 25, 2022. After an announcement was made for vehicle owners to move their cars from an adjacent lot, she exited through a side door. Poor lighting, lack of railing, no signage, and no employees at the door caused her to fall at least three feet from a landing, resulting in injury.
Price alleged permanent personal injuries and is seeking over $75,000 in damages. The promotion initially responded to the lawsuit by stating that any issues were the responsibility of the venue since it had only rented the space. The parent company of the Heart Ballroom never responded and faced a summary judgment.
ICW: No Holds Barred's attorney withdrew from the case on January 29 after relocating. The promotion and its owner have not responded or appeared in court since then. A scheduled settlement conference on March 10 had no representative from the promotion present.
