Greg Hamilton claims WWE fired him over unknown music video

Greg Hamilton claimed he was fired by WWE in 2021 after appearing in a music video that he said he had no knowledge of at the time. The former ring announcer, whose real name is Greg Hutson, worked for the company for five years before his release.
Hamilton made the comments in an Instagram post where he stated he received a call from Talent Relations informing him of his firing. He revealed he had just returned from Saudi Arabia and was watching a Cincinnati Bearcats Football game when the call came.
According to Hamilton, the video was NIL material owned by WWE even though he never agreed to be in it. Prior to his release in the fall of 2021, Hamilton had been in a dispute with rapper Westside Gunn over the unauthorized sampling of his voice.
He had threatened legal action through a WWE lawyer during that disagreement. At the time of his departure, Hamilton issued a statement describing it as a mutual respect departure after six years and 52 weeks a year with the company.
In that October 2021 statement he said it was business and that both sides had respect for each other. Since leaving WWE, Hamilton has continued his career as an announcer and joined the broadcast team of the Professional Fighters League in April 2025.
