Adam Copeland Says He And Tony Khan Were Open To Cena Match

“I know I was open to it. I know Tony was open to it.— Adam Copeland
Adam Copeland revealed that both he and Tony Khan were open to him facing John Cena during Cena's retirement tour. Copeland made the comments while appearing on Mick Foley's "The Mick and Kenny Show" podcast. He stated "I know I was open to it" and confirmed that Khan shared the same willingness for the matchup.
The veteran acknowledged his significant history with Cena but said he lacked confidence that WWE would have booked the bout after his time there. Cena himself earlier this year named Copeland and Randy Orton as his two greatest rivals and highlighted how important both were to his WWE career.
Although the Cena clash did not occur, Copeland paid tribute during the AEW All Out 2025 opener by using the Five-Knuckle Shuffle and Attitude Adjustment on Cash Wheeler.
