Excalibur Recalls Chemistry Test With Jim Ross

Excalibur has served as the most consistent voice on AEW's commentary desk since the promotion launched. Before AEW's first event Double or Nothing, he and Jim Ross underwent a chemistry test to determine their compatibility as broadcast partners. During the test Excalibur put on his mask after noticing cameras were present, prompting Ross to question whether he understood the session was not focused on him.

Excalibur responded by asking Ross to give him a chance, assuring the veteran commentator of his seriousness. The pair have called shows together since that test, aside from Ross' extended absences caused by health issues. Ross has since described Excalibur as "a great friend" and "a great asset to me."

Excalibur explained that he prioritizes keeping the focus on the in-ring action rather than himself. He views his role as simply the narrator describing what unfolds in the ring, where performers risk their health, future prospects and ability to interact with family.

Excalibur stated that showing respect for the effort put forth by the wrestlers is the most important aspect of his job.
