Billy Gunn Discusses His Sons Austin And Colten
“I wanted my kids to actually suck so they didn't do this job, but unfortunately...— Billy Gunn

Billy Gunn has witnessed both of his sons Austin and Colten pursue careers as full-time professional wrestlers in AEW. He has tagged with them as well as feuded against them during his time in the promotion. Gunn recently shared his thoughts on his sons' personalities and careers in an interview with Inside The Ropes.

He described Austin as his youngest son and explained that Austin is like him but amplified significantly. In contrast, Gunn said Colten is very different from both him and Austin because Colten is highly analytic. The veteran recounted that the angle where his sons betrayed him by attacking him with a chair resulted in Gunn joining The Acclaimed and led to their on-screen rivalry.

Despite the chair shot, Gunn stated that he is proud of Austin and Colten and genuinely believes they are good wrestlers. He added that he would be honest with them if they were not performing well. Gunn revealed that he had required his sons to complete their studies before he would allow them to begin wrestling training.

Austin handed him his diploma immediately after graduating and asked when they could start training. Colten had a detailed life plan extending to age 60 before deciding to pursue wrestling, which surprised Gunn and his wife Paula. Colten told them he wanted to wrestle to avoid having regrets and turned out to be skilled at it as well.
