Drew McIntyre Details Six-Month WWE Hiatus for Acting

“Ever, by far since I started wrestling at 15 years old. I have not had six months off.— Drew McIntyre
Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre discussed his career during an interview. He revealed that he took more than six months away from WWE to focus on acting opportunities.
McIntyre noted that this period marked the longest break he has experienced since beginning his wrestling career at age 15. He previously wrestled on weekends from age 16 and worked summers at a holiday camp starting at age 17.
His prior injuries included a three-month absence in NXT due to a torn bicep and an eight-week physical layoff after breaking his neck. During the neck injury recovery he continued cutting promos for independent promotions.
The time away from WWE proved busy rather than restful for most of its duration. McIntyre spent part of the hiatus living in Spain before recently settling at home with his wife and cats.
He described the experience of remaining in one location as unusual after a lifetime spent traveling town to town and country to country for 52 weeks each year. McIntyre stated that he added no new Spanish vocabulary during his stay in Spain.
McIntyre confirmed he has maintained strong physical condition throughout the break simply because he enjoys looking fit. He feels he is in the best shape of his life and was recently seen running ropes at a training facility in Nashville.
