David Finlay Reveals Early WWE Career Plan
“When I was fifteen, I sat down with my dad and was like 'No, this [wrestling] is what I want to do with my life.'— David Finlay
David Finlay decided at the age of fifteen that he wanted to pursue a career in professional wrestling.
He discussed his plans with his father, who outlined a specific path for him to follow.
The plan included training in amateur wrestling, a step also recommended by Nattie Neidhart.
Finlay was then supposed to spend time wrestling in England and Germany before training at the New Japan Dojo for six months.
After that, he was expected to join NXT, which was known as FCW at the time.
His six-month stay in Japan ultimately lasted eleven years because he enjoyed it so much.
